As a Wedding Photographer in Alberta, some wedding days stick with me long after the last sparkler has gone out — and K & M’s is one of them. From the moment we met on FaceTime, I knew this would be a wedding I’d hold close to my heart. K reminded me so much of myself as a bride — hyper-organized, full of thoughtful questions, and with a clear vision for how her day should unfold. Over the year leading up to their wedding, we stayed in touch constantly, making sure every detail was perfectly planned. And when July 5th finally arrived, it truly was perfect.
Their Love Story
Like so many couples today, K & M first connected online. But their connection was instant — so much so that after their very first conversation, M called his parents to tell them he had found the one. Just a week later, Valentine’s Day rolled around, and M showed up with a bag of goodies for K — a sweet gesture that sealed the deal in her heart.
At the time, K had two boys of her own (and two cats!) — but none of that made M hesitate for a second. Instead, he jumped right in, embracing her family with open arms. Together, they’ve since welcomed a son of their own, creating a beautiful, blended family full of love and laughter.
The Wedding Day
Their celebration took place at The Rustic Wedding Barn, a venue that perfectly suited their warm, down-to-earth personalities. As far as Alberta wedding venues go for photography, the Rustic Wedding Barn is always a top contender. Sunlight poured through the July sky, highlighting the barn’s wooden beams and romantic details. The day was filled with the kind of joy you can feel in your bones — the sound of kids laughing, glasses clinking, and music carrying into the summer air.
One thing I’ll never forget? K’s perfume. It was pure magic — the kind of scent that makes you stop in your tracks. I even snapped a photo of the bottle so I could track it down later for myself (yes, it was that good).
The Wedding Day Vibes
K & M are true foodies, and their love for good meals and great company showed in every detail of the reception. From the delicious menu to the cozy, laughter-filled conversations at each table, it felt like a big family dinner where everyone was welcome. In true K & M fashion, they also found time to sneak away for quiet moments together — just the two of them — soaking in the fact that after years of dating, planning, and dreaming, they were finally husband and wife.

Some weddings are beautiful because of the flowers, the venue, or the décor. K & M’s wedding was beautiful because of the people. Because of the way M looked at K as she walked toward him. Because of the kids running around with happy, carefree smiles. Because of the friendships and family bonds that filled every corner of that barn.
